Your money is protected until you're satisfied
When you accept a bid, your payment is captured and held securely by Stripe — the same payment infrastructure used by Amazon and Shopify. It doesn't go to the pro until you tap “Release Payment” after the work is done.
If something goes wrong, open a dispute right in the app. We review the before and after photos from both sides and make a fair decision — usually within 5 business days. You are never forced to pay for work that wasn't completed.

Common questions
Is my money safe if the pro doesn't show up or does a bad job?
Yes. Your payment is held in escrow and never released until you either approve it, or — after a 72-hour review window — doBid conducts an internal review and releases on your behalf. Release isn't automatic; a person at doBid reviews the job before any release. If there's a problem, open a dispute before the window closes — our team reviews the before and after photos and makes a fair decision. Do not release payment if you have unresolved concerns.
How do I know the pros are qualified?
Every pro is verified through Stripe's identity verification process before they can receive payments. doBid is a marketplace for non-license-required home services only — pros agree at signup not to bid on or perform electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, gas-line, or structural work (those require a state license and are outside doBid's scope). After each job, clients leave ratings and written reviews — those are visible to you before you accept any bid. Pros with poor ratings are removed from the platform.
Is there a fee for clients?
Clients pay the winning bid plus a flat 3% service fee at checkout. Pros pay a tiered fee deducted from their payout (15% under $500, 12% for $500–$1,999, 9% for $2,000+). Pros only pay when they get paid.
How fast will I get bids?
In active markets, most jobs receive their first bid within a few hours. We recommend posting in the morning for the best response time. You can message any pro directly through the app if you have questions before accepting.
What if I'm a pro and a client disputes my work unfairly?
You have 48 hours to respond to any dispute with your own evidence — including the after photos you upload at job completion. Our team reviews both sides before making any decision. This is why we require after photos: they're your protection. Disputes are resolved by a real person, not an algorithm.
What kinds of jobs can I post?
Junk removal, handyman repairs, landscaping, painting, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, furniture moving, deep cleaning, TV mounting, assembly, fence and deck work, and similar non-license-required home services. doBid doesn't currently support electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, gas-line, or structural work — those trades require a state license.
